Walking through the secluded villages, passing through dense forest, hopping in to beautiful meadows, Buran Ghati is one of the treks with perfect views, multiple kinds of terrains and different moods of nature. Views of different landscapes as you cross each village will leave you spellbound.
Starting from Janglik in Himachal Pradesh, one will pass through Dayara, Litham, Dunda and Barua.
A perfect summer trek to start with!
Itinerary:
DAY 1- DRIVE FROM SHIMLA TO JANGLIK
Distance – Approx 150 kms, Hours – 8-9hrs
The drive to janglik is very pretty. It’ll pass through old himachali villages and you’ll witness the traditional homes and beautiful rivers all along. Pabbar river is extremely delightful to look at, which will be witnessed by you as you reach rohru. Passing through the beautiful pine and oak forests and getting the view of the beautiful landscapes, you’ll reach janglik, which is the base camp to buran ghati trek.
DAY 2- TREK FROM JANGLIK TO DAYARA THATCH
Distance – 7.5 km, Hours – 5 hours, Altitude – 11,115ft.
Leaving Janglik, todays trek to Dayara starts with a little steep ascent. The trail will take you through dense forests of pine and oak and across beautiful fresh streams. The walk through the forest will leave you rejuvenated. As you’ll near the campsite, you will find yourself in vast beautiful lush green meadows with cattle grazing on them. A beautiful sight to witness and absolutely perfect to get your cameras out and capture it for a lifetime memory.
DAY 3- TREK FROM DAYARA TO LITHAM.
Distance – 5.9 km, Hours – 3-4 hrs, Altitude – 11,485ft.
Wake up to a golden morning and have your breakfast. Start the trek to Litham with few ups and downs, the path lined by silver birch. The snow clad mountains shall be mesmerising view. Enjoy the trail as it leads you to the meadows of litham. Enjoy the evening.
DAY 4- EXPLORE CHANDRANAHAN LAKE
Distance- 6.9km, Hours- 4-5 hrs, Altitude- 13,020 ft touch.
Finally a day to explore around, rest up, re-energise yourself is here. Todays walk would be steeper but fun. After a few hours of walk, reach the lake and take in as much as you can from nature. Enjoy the lake which is not very huge but is alluring and you may also be able to witness the snow patches here and there. Get back to litham and rest up for the next day.
DAY 5- LITHAM TO DHUNDA
Distance- 4.6km, Hours- 4-5 hrs, Altitude- 13,425ft.
Leaving the meadows, we now enter the alpine zone. We will pass through the Buran Ghati pass we will witness the Dhauladhar range. A day when all you’ll do is climb higher. Rupin Valley will stand on the right and Buran Ghati on the left. A spectacular camp site with clear views of the valley. It will be an experience you will cherish for lifetime. As you crawl out of the tents, you’ll witness snow clad mountains standing tall all around you
DAY 6- DHUNDA TO MUNIRANG VIA BURAN GHATI
Enjoy a rollercoaster ride climbing up and going down to Munirang. A long day along the trail with steep descent. Follow the leaders to refrain from accidents. The last snow will be visible today as we walk down, loosing altitude.
DAY 7- MUNIRANG TO BARUA, DRIVE TO SHIMLA
Descend through the pine forests, cross the stream and reach barua village. The wooden and stone hoses and their orchards will open their arms to you. Descend further and reach the roads from where you will drive back to shimla.
Day 8– BUFFER DAY (IF NEEDED)
A buffer day! Taking into consideration, the weather along the route, incase of any bad weather, we’ll be utilising this buffer day. The charges of this buffer day (if used) i.e. 2500/- per person will be borne by the trekkers. The trek leaders and the guides will decide if this day has to be used.
