Nestled in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, Dayara Bugyal is a picturesque Himalayan alpine meadow perched at an altitude of 3,639 meters. Located about 40 km from Uttarkashi, it is a popular destination for trekking and camping enthusiasts. Surrounded by lush Deodar and Rhododendron trees, the meadow is rich in diverse flora and fauna, offering a serene escape into nature.

Dayara Bugyal changes its charm with the seasons. In spring, the vibrant red and pink blooms of rhododendrons create a striking contrast against the lush green grasslands. In winter, the meadow transforms into a snow-covered paradise, perfect for skiing and snow activities. The trek to Dayara Bugyal is accessible year-round except during the monsoon, making it a versatile destination for adventure seekers.

The meadow offers breathtaking views of the Garhwal Himalayan range, including iconic peaks such as Nanda Devi, Bandarpunch, and Swargarohini, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to soak in the grandeur of the Himalayas.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Raithal

Distance: 190 km, Duration: 7–8 hours

Begin your journey from Dehradun Railway Station at 6:00 am and drive towards Raithal village, the base camp for the Dayara Bugyal trek. The route passes through scenic spots like Mussoorie, Chamba, and Uttarkashi, offering stunning views of the Himalayan terrain. Arrive at Raithal by evening for an overnight stay in a homestay or guest house.

Day 2: Trek from Raithal to Gui

Trek Distance: 5 km, Duration: 2–3 hours

After an early breakfast, start your trek from Raithal to Gui. The trail begins with a short ascent to Upper Raithal, offering spectacular views of Mt. Shrikanth, Mt. Jaunli, and Draupadi ka Danda. Continue through a lush forest filled with flora and fauna until you reach Gui, a quaint hamlet with shepherd huts, a serene lake (Gui Taal), and breathtaking views of Mt. Gangotri and Mt. Shreekantha. Settle into your alpine tents for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Trek to Dayara Bugyal and Back to Gui

Trek Distance: 7 km, Duration: 4–5 hours

Start your day early to trek to Dayara Bugyal, a pristine and expansive meadow offering breathtaking landscapes. Explore the meadow and enjoy stunning views of peaks like Banderpunch Massif, Black Peak, Mt. Gangotri, and Draupadi ka Danda. After lunch, descend along the same trail back to Gui. Optional exploration includes visiting Gidara Bugyal and the ridge connecting Dayara to Assi Ganga Valley. Overnight stay at Gui campsite.
